Can't say I have ever had this problem but mabe a blow lamp set on a very low flame might melt it off without causing any damage.

There again it just might burn your pride and joy to the ground so be carefull!!

try a product called altrams its a deb product and is a acid based cleaner and is available from any good engineering supplies stockist. i have not tried it on waxoil but i have on many many things including rust ect and it cleans it all back to bare metal... just wear rubber gloves as i think it also cleans the skin away he he...

i last brought some last week and paid £14.95 + vat for 5 litres of the stuff...

Depending how hard the Waxoyl has set, white spirit should remove it.
