I think you will need to change your manifold. Although i'm not 100% on that.

I would go for the weber DGAV 32/36 for economy and performance it is a twin choke carb like your one but one butterfly opens fully first then the 2nd one opens on the last bit of throttle cable travel it was designed to give best overall economy and performance on the Sierra.

Or go for the 38DGAS sometimes called DGMS (with manual choke) which has 2 chokes as well but they both open at the same time giving better performance. You may need to get them set up for your 1.6 because most come off the 2.0l cars. Keep the jets in case you ever decide to upgrade to the 2.0 block.

Here's a 32/36dgav on eBay with manifold no bids:

Or maybe someone has one lying around they can sell you. Try putting a request in the wanted section.

Steer well clear of the 38dgas they were originally on the v6. when on 2.0L pintos they generally have a huge flat spot if when set up on a dyno you will poss get rid of it but still be in the low 20's mpg.

The 32/36 was on all sorts from mk2 escorts to cortinas etc and is an excellent carb capable of powering up to a 150bhp engine . Me personally bike carbs all the way....power torque and economy...

Dan I have 38 dgas or it manual choke brother, ok it was a real challenge to set up but mr percy verance [or being pig headed ] sorted it [almost ] and it returns 30ish to 4.54 litres has small f/s at around 1200rpm ,not as bad as a lumpy cam BUT Iwould NOT put one on a 1.6 ! its to BIG unless it had a race spec cam and big valve head and you don't giveatoss about economy ,a32 /36 imho would be the poodles doodles but thats me Idon't mind being shot at so off you all go :spiteful: :clapping: :yahoo:  mowerman

Sorry, I have just thrown a good 1.6 carb and manifold in the tip :sorry: I took it off mine as it was on a 2.0 pinto and was under powering the car. It sat in my garage for months doing nothing apart from trip me out everytime I walked past it, which is why it went to the tip. Sorry mate.

I,ve checked with Fast Road Cars , if I go for the Weber 32/36 I will need to change the manifold , too much hassle.

Took the plunge and went for 32/34 DMTL fits straight on to the old manifold ( so they say) whatch this space .

Thanks for the help ,
