Hi,my front passenger side caliper has seized (for the thrid time)and I was looking for a repalcement at the local scrap yard but I couldn't find one. I thought ford escorts or may be fiestas would have been the same. Its a sierra 240mm vented disc style. Does anyone know what and if any other fords used the same calipier??

Thanks..........Andy

Front calipers are very simple to recon your self. I got a kit from Big red as long as the bore/pistons aren't scored then it should be fine. If it's seized it may just heat hardened deposits that are easily removed with wire wool. Take it apart, loose the seal and see how easily the piston slides in and out of the caliper. If it moves freely (drops under its own weight into the caliper) then block the bleed and pipe holes, lube the piston with WD40 and it should need pushing into the caliper or at least slide very slowly under its own weight. If it drops quickly with a hissing noise then maybe the piston or bore is too far gone in which case put the seal back on, piston back down the bore and use it as a part ex against a refurbed unit.

Guest Getting There

Hi

I have 2 here that were recondition 1500 miles ago, they were taken from my 2B a little while ago but still look nearly new. If your interested I only wanted £20 plus postage which is far less than the £120 they cost to have done. PM if interested.

Many Thanks

Chris
