Oil Recommendations

Afternoon all!!

 

Just what oil would be recommended for a 2.1 Pinto, will be looking to do some track days?

The pinto was designed for 20/50 but I and lots of others use 10/40 with no problems at all. In any case oils are so much better than they were 30 - 40 years ago so providing your engine is in good condition there is no worry about using a lighter oil.

If you are revving hard, 10psi per 1000 rpm is recommended, the thicker 20w50 helps, I get 5 1/2 to 6 bar cold on 20w50 with a high pressure pump.

If you are using it on the track, regular filter and oil changes will protect your investment

I use Valvoline VR-1 20w50 its the dogs danglies for tuned engines and suitable for racing.
