Trying to install a type 9 g/b to a 2ltr pinto,starter motor from sierra looks unusable,starter not recognisable from haynes manual but from other sources looks to be a Ford Marelli.It looks like getting a new or refurbished item but should I go for a direct replacement or is one of the other types more suitable???? :drinks:It has ten teeth and the lead from the starter motor to the solenoid has disintegrated ,would assume that it has at some time got very hot.

Why does it look unusable?,is it a prengaged type that is with solenoid affixed? there are some differences in size also in no of teeth on pinion IIRC 10 and 7 and they won't intermix ,Ihad arealprob with this some time ago.Let us have some more detail and I would think that someone will have th answer--mower man [mick] :good:
