Thinking of making the shift a bit tighter.Used to the short shift on my bm.

Whats the recommendations. seen a few on ebay for approx 50 quid mark

Seen one on burton power website. for 15 quid..how does it work without having a longer lower half to the stick ??

You can modify a standard stick for pennies.

£15 quid one works well, no need for an expensive one on a type9.

What they do is move the pivot point up the stick, increasing the throw at the gearbox end then space up the mounting plate by the same amount the pivot point is moved up.

NW hoodies site has a "How Too"

cheers dude. having read said post ive got my head round it now.

It says you manually move the ball joint. that was tye bit i was struggling with

i thought spacing the gear lever off would make it not connect with the mechanism, got it now though.

looks like ill get modding the oe one first

I got the expensive one from Rally Design.

Although the finish of it is excellent, it doesnt seem to be that tight, not compared to my mates Mk2 Escort.

Has made a difference, maybe just not worth its large pricetag.

I found the Rally Design one was too short making a lumpy change. Fortunately I borrowed one to try (from a mate who didn't like it either) so maid my own using the NW Hoodies design and found it works well. I used M8 nyloc nuts as spacers so moved the ball by the thickness of these nuts. Cut down the length of the lever at the same time this is also a bit subjective but I found about 6.5" to 7" from the cir-clip at the top of the rubber spring was fine for my set-up. But you may want to leave it a bit longer and cut it down later if you think it would be better.
