St170 Oil Pressure/ Oil Temp

Has any of the ST170 owners used the oil temp/pressure switch on a normal set of gauges? i understand it is a dual switch but standardly this runs through an ecu... untill i get the car running i cant measure any outputs from the sensor. Any help would be much appreciated.
