Column Switch Wiring

Hi,

Finaly got down to sorting out the wiring on the car, and have got no-where fast.

I have got the addition relay pack for the WG loom, for '88< later type switches from the lolocost stand at the show.

 

Things like the side lights work, but the dipped lights dont, but the main beam does, , the wiper motor when plugged in sets the flashers off... but the indicators work fine when operated..

 

all seems bananas, but I've been through the new rev2 WG diagram several times and checked the loom connection to the correct positions on the switch ..ect but no joy..

 

power for the lights doesnt seem to be switching correctly form the right stalk to left stalk (left stalk swtches between dipped/main)

has there been any more revisions of the diagram...

Takumi where did you get the new rev 2 diagram from ?

 

How old is it ?

 

I wonder if mine is rev 2 but ive left it at work

 

did you ask for a new/updated version ?

 

sorry for so many ? but I wonder if this is where i'm going wrong

 

as for your problem I don't know as I've only wired the rear lamps so far

Hi,

In the Top Right hand corner of the diagram is a note Edition 1' or Edition 2'

The later one I got from lolocost - it came with the relay kit, for the later coloumn switches which have smaller wires, and so need relays to switch the headlamps.

But that aside, Ive think its all sorted.

spend most of the day with the haynes book and the Edition2 diagram and think found where its wrong, theres an earth missing, and makes 1/2 of the stuff not work, the current i think is flowing inthe wrong direction via the components..hehe, ,

hopefuly it'l work tomorow..

Hi Guys

 

I have just recieved the relay pack form RH but there were no instructions with it, just a pile of connectors and a couple of relays.

 

Does anyone have any simple instuctions on how to fit these.

 

I am Assuming that you connect the thin wire from the column switch to relay via 86, ground 85, power 30 and 87 goes to the head light. one circuit for dipped and 1 for main beam.

 

Also where in the VG loom do you take the power from?
