Exhaust - Direction?

Folks

Is there any received wisdom on the final positioning of the Exhuast/Silencer?

That is, "should" the end of the pipe be at right angles to the body side, as the position of the fixing bracket, welded on by RH, seems to indicate? Or, "can" it be angled down towards the ground? Also is either of the positions, or anything in between  likely to affect the decibles when it comes to the noise test?

Any info much appreciated.

TIA

Longboarder has suggested it's routed back into the car under the seats  . He reckons it will keep the decibles well down

It'll certainly keep the bum warm in winter ;)
