Sensor Threads

When changing sensors, oil, water temp etc, do you put anything on the threads before putting them in?

I have used one wrap ptfe tape

My understanding is that you need to be careful using tape with sensors as they usually earth though the body (threads)

That makes sense robin, best go in bare back then!! Any lock tight?

Sensors may or may not earth through the body.

 

They may have a separate signal ground return and the wires may need to be shielded.

Having said that, some sensors aren't as critical and do use an earth return. If they only have one wire, they certainly do.
