Capri Fuel Sender.

Hi all,

Been thinking about ways to get my Capri fuel gauge reading correctly. For the old Sierra sender I cut the sender hole from the Sierra tank and had it welded on the RH supplied tank because I could not get the RH idea of the 4 studs to seal the tank properly. This meant that I simply fitted the sender 'bayonet style' as in the original car and after a bit of bending of the float the gauge read perfectly throughout the range.

Now that I have changed the clocks to the Capri 6 dial pod the Sierra sender does not match and when the tank is full the gauge only reads a little over half. So I was wondering; Is the Capri sender the same fitment as the Sierra? If so I could get one from Ford and simply swap them. If not then has anyone successfully made a Sierra sender work properly (linearly from full to empty) with the Capri clocks?

Any help gratefully received.

Cheers, Boggie

I have the same problem i.e. Capri guages and Sierra tank sender, so the guage only reads half full when actually full.

I believe the Escort mark 2 sender is the one to get but it may be a scrap yard job to get one. I tried a few of my local motor factors but was told they are not allowed to sell them anymore due to safety hazards, something to do with Brussels again! and yet I think RHSC sell one seperately for about £12.

You need to get the sender from a Mk 11 Escort estate!!!!!!

I posted the Moprod part number on here ,a while back,so a search may

reveal it.

but was told they are not allowed to sell them anymore due to safety hazards

That sounds like cobblers to me!!!!!!!! can't be any more dangerous than

putting fuel in the tank!!

yet I think RHSC sell one seperately for about £12.

I tried one of these before I got the MK11 Escort one ,it does'nt work with Capri clocks.
