hello all,

can anybody shed some light on this.

inlet side of engine (2 litre injection) underneath the inlet tubes are two sensors screwed into the block what are the for?

One is the oil pressure gauge and is screwed into the block. The other is a temperature sensor for the ECU and screws into the intake manifold.

 

Oh - unless you mean the oil breather valve which goes into the block and has two small pipes into the intake manifold just below the ports.

 

If that doesn't answer it can you post a photo?

Thanks Ant,

 

that makes sense the one in the front of the block is an oil presure switch then the water temp switch is in the manifold - excellent, now I can continue with the wiring - thanks again

the sender nearest the front of the block (fan end) is the water temp sender for the dash, the one towards the rear of the block is the oil pressure sender.

the inlet manifold has another sender for the ecu which helps it decide how much fuel to let you have etc.

To avoid confusion, that one's not actually in the block, it's in the cylinder head.
