Hiya,

I am thinking about buying some smiths guages for my 2b. what i am wondering is how does the electric speedo know the speed? Does it have a cable to gearbox or does it pick up off something else?

Thanks Guys :)

The smith speedo (telemetrix range) i bought uses a range of sensors. I decided to use a '4 magnet sensor kit inc. sensors'. It cost £39.60 +vat. You stick 4 magnets around either your prop, half shaft, wheel and then there is a calibration chart that you calculate a figure on, and then set a series of 10 switches on the back of the gauge. This way i only had 1 wire to worry about going to the sensor(and earth). Veyr neat and you don't have to worry about routing the speedo cable.

other sensors were a 'hall effect cable pulse generator' at 35+ and a 'speedo sensor m16 thread x 80 long, 2 blade terminal' at £24.50+

Yes i've got the catalogue in front of me.
