Big jim once again guided a few north west hoddies out and about, Marshalling on the Roger Albert Clark Rally, this being the first time this rally has been run, the organisors trying to take rallying back to th eighty's.

Although only 49 cars started, the entry was quality, 2 ex world champion drivers, 1 British rally champion and owner of the Ford world rally team, Malcolm Wilson and even a telly star, Tony Jardine of F1 commentating was driving.

Jim, Mutley and Geoff "Do I" Critchley, Cabin boy, new member- Leaner, and me Captain Pugwash had a great day out.

Jim stayed in the *office* with Mutley and friend, ( the Disco) - they were radio officers. the rest were cast out to the cold damp morning weather.

Thanks for a good day and good to see Geoff enjoying himself, oh and by the way Geoffrey, don't worry about cabin boy standing on the bends, he's been taking piccys of rally cars on events since he was 8, forgot to tell you that.

A few piccy's cabin boy and myself took this morning.

and it was me that told him to move, sorry Dave, but you photographers are all the b...dy same!

You stand in some of the most dangerous spots "to get the shot!" :o

Well on that corner, if a car had've gone on across the grass and wiped Mark out, it would've been me in trouble for allowing it to happen. :gdit:

Mind you, they are good piccy's. ;) :)

  chill my friend, Itds tempting fate, I know, but when looking through the lens, you seem to see a problem coming, you always have your eye on the action, and im not being cocky here jim, In twenty years Ive been hit 3 times. had a few close others I will admit.

Thanks for your genuine concern and I will bear it in mind next time. Good day though, took 368 photographs between us. the organisers have about 80 and motoring news have 6.. we never got the group shot though.

See you soon,

Fantastic shots :D What kit do you use? Have you gone digital?

Totaly digital, 2 canon d30's - 35mm equivalent , 3mg image, good for A3 posters or larger, range of lens from fish eye 16mm up to 500mm mirror, best lens id 170 - 500 f2.8 autofocus zoom and 28 - 300mm zoom.

Thanks for the nice comment, been doing for 20 years- mostly profesionally though, used to work for most of the car manufacturors publicity side of things.

If you can afford it get a digital camara with 3 meg file or greater and a 1 gigabyte memory car, 799 pictures on a card.

Tell teh wife, for every 36 images I take, its a tenner of the price of the camera, 4 quid for the film, 6 quid process and print and a week to wait to see them.

I took over the weekend 546 shots on the roger clark rally, the weather was raining most the time, got home and a hour later the images where in London with the publishers and will possibly be in next weeks mag.

Best part is if you under or over expose the shot, you can save it and alter it in Adobe photo elements, cracking program, have it on my laptop when on events, just in case I get that shot of the day, can be in london quicker than the marshalls getting the car upright onto its wheels nearly.

We should all have a day together with the camera's taking piccys of some hoods at speed, very rewqarding to have your image on the wall.

great pics!

and good idea...would be good to see some Hoods going sideways round a track

Can be arranged over xmas, no park hall rally this year if anyone knows of a bit of tarmac, away from houses, need a few cones, a camara and a couple of bald tyres. I come and assist, anyone interested, lets get it sorted. nothing fancy, just a bit of fun, burn off a few calories and bit of fresh air in the lungs, after stuffing ourselves on xmas day.
