Retest today at Derby

 

All good apart from lambda reading:

 

1.06!

 

So close i could smell it.....

Even the examiner was willing it to pass

 

time to re-seal that exhaust.......again

 

The fault sheet only has this one bit on it though so i think i see the light at the end of the tunnel, unless its giggling baffoon coming the other way

I can understand how frustrated you must feel, but as you say there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Wrighty,

 

better to be following me than going the opposite way - never know what bits RH haven't done properly (hopefully the threadlock will stop the brake calipers from coming off again!!!)

 

Was it Roy or Mick that did the test? (and did they mention it seems to be a common problem?)

 

Was the lambda 1.06 at low or high idle? If low idle, then you'll probably need to tweak the idle stepper motor adjustment (or get MGA performance to look at it).

 

Going to aim for Wednesday next week (assuming nothing else crops up). Give me a shout when you have your next test, will see if I can get there and compare notes.

Mick did the test and retest, didnt mention any common probs though, probably being nice!

 

Lambda was 1.06 at fast idle at the test but since that its gone to 1.2 something.

co and the other test are spot on, just the lambda thats causing grief!

 

Engine has gone from lean to close to death in a matter of days.

 

Engine runs rich whilst warming up then goes lean when up to temp.

Blip the throttle and it goes rich for a second then back to lean

Spray something flammable in the carb and it goes rich so im guessing lambda sensor is ok as the volts goes high

 

Just tried bigger injectors today but still the same result.

 

Fuel is flowing back into the tank so either pressure is good or the regg is broke?

 

Clutching at straws now but perhaps the 8 week old fuel in the tank has gone off >?

 

If no joy by the weekend either MGA or sometuther pro bloke is going to get a call!
