Charge Of The Wires

having just installed (laid the wiring loom in) I thought i'd fire up the starter after all the work building kit. Imagine my surprise when it turned over, the problem being it turned over on second click of starter switch before third click as it should have done, why ?

I would, at a guess, say you have fitted the Vicki green loom???

Cos it's a common problem and due to their dodgy wall chart instructions. Basically, two of the wires are the wrong way around in the multi plug going to the ignition switch. The instructions should read

(VG) Brown -> (sierra) Red

(VG) White/red -> (s) Black/blue

(VG) White -> (s) Black/yellow

the yellow sierra wire not being used.

Although whether this is the loom you've got or not, it sounds like the same sort of problem anyway!

Thanks Rob you were on the right track, my autosparks loom was correct but on checking the starter switch some loyal ford worker had put the black/yellow on terminal 50 and black/blue on 15. Swopped these over and now starter is not on automatic. Regards Graham
