  1. Thanks for your replies, sounds like a v6 box may be the answer. Anyone know where I might find one? I’ve had a quick look on eBay and couldn’t find any, just a couple of standard ones. (Are they hard to come by?). Also I forgot to mention I am using the high ratio diesel diff. Will this suit the v6 box and a Vauxhall xe engine? Thanks, Andy
  2. Hi there, I am currently building a super-spec with a Vauxhall XE engine, and have started thinking about bellhousings. The thing is I don’t know witch one to go for. My donor car was a 2.3 diesel which I have heard have a longer gearbox input shaft than the pinto serria. I have read on hear that the v6 also has a longer shaft so my question is, are they the same? I’ve looked on the SBD website and I see they do two sizes of bellhousing one for the standard length and one to suit the v6. If someone could please tell me there shaft length I could find out that way. Mine measures around 175mm from the end of the shaft to the point were it enters the gearbox. Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks, Andy
  3. Right I think the split type seems the way to go as it is only the gaiters themselves that need replacing (the joints and the cups are fine). I may just replace the two outer ones as the inner ones closest to the diff don’t look to bad. Many thanks for your advice. No doubt I’ll need it again before I’m on the road. Thanks Andy
  4. Hi guys, Thanks for the replies, when I enquired at my local automotive supplier about a full kit including the gaiter and the metal cup they told me about the two sizes and that they could only get one of them as a dealer part from ford. (Not the size I need obviously). The chap I talked to suggested looking for a different pair of drive shafts with the cup size that is available, however this seems a bit extreme to me.
  5. Hi there, I have just started building a RH super spec and have hit a problem regarding the rear drive shaft gaiters. They rely need replacing as they are cracked and two look like they are about to split. The build videos mention that they are impossible to get as a dealer part from ford. I have however managed to locate the rubber gaiters themselves from a Garage supplier but I have not been able to find the metal cups that have to be cut and then replaced in order to remove the gaiters form the shaft. Basically I was wondering what anyone else has done to over come this problem. The alternatives I can see are the stretch over ones as mentioned in the videos or the split type that are cut to length and then glued together. The stretch over ones sound a better solution but I have had problems finding the correct ones to suit the shaft. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks Andy
