Firstly...I apologise if this rant offends anyone here working for the NHS....I know that those working in the front line in general are bloody hard working.. Apologies over Now the rant.... After months of being f**ked around with doctors and appointments (long story, but needless to say I ended up having to pay £££'s for private treatment initially due to NHS not getting appointments sorted for 3 months..... Anyway eventually got appoinment through for operation, involving a neck operation. Date was yesterday. Got myself in right frame of mind as Op was fairly serious.....very nervous . So turned up at 10am as requested. Went through all the formalities, saw the anethatis, got dressed up for surgery (gown etc) had my neck marked up where to operate and was fed a handful of pre-op medication. I was due for surgery 2-3pm...so there I am worried sick, starving and thirsty (had to fast for 24hrs) after hours of waiting and asking passing nurses what was the delay (never got a response) eventually at 6.30pm was called to a small room and informed that the Surgeon finished at 5pm and his previous op overan by an hour..... ."YOUR OPERATION IS CANCELLED" ...............FFS Why the hell couldn't they tell me hours before....? To top it all off they then informed me that the next date could be in 28 days.....FFS Had a call today stating they couldn't fit me in until mid Jan next year (Well beyond the 28 days) as the surgeon is on holiday from end of next week until the new year. As soon as I mentioned that they were in breach of the NHS charter and that I would go private and charge them the costs I miracuosly got a date just befor Xmas.....f**king amazing :aggressive: This now has a major impact on my job as I have had to cancel all trips etc this year due to the recouperation period. Now I am going to have to extend even further into the new year.... 1st time for me having a major op, but I hope the last after this experience. Just hope that the revised date goes ahead...fingers crossed So much for world class treatment....If I could afford the op private I would do, but damn annoying to think we all pay for this s**t kid of treatment :aggressive: Rant over...for now
