New Or Reconditioned Pinto Alternator

I think the title says it all really! The alternator I took from my donor

is pretty manky and has done 100,000 miles, so I was thinking of

getting another. I don't really know the value of such things, so I was

wondering what would be a reasonable price to pay for either a new or

reconditioned unit to fit the standard Pinto alternator bracketry?

We're almost finished on a 2B with a 2.0efi, and we found that the standard alternator was a right git to get to fit.

So if you are thinking of renewing go for one of the smaller alternatives as mentioned on other treads. The Bedford Rascal alt seems to be quite popular if you can find one.

I've got a fiesta one on mine............smaller in diameter so easier to fit, and the same plug in connection as my sierra donor original.

I also used a fiesta bracket, postions the pulley nicely in line and you only have to redrill one of the mounting holes in it to fit your pinto block.

you can actually get"performance"alternators which are more compact to save on weight and actually have slightly higher charge rate

best thing is you dont have to drill anything but they are abit pricey

give burton power a call they have some great stuff for older engines
