Steering Column Trim

During a dashboard re-furb, I stripped of the original Sierra plastic cowling that covered the various switch-gear and wiring. Now, I want to tidy it up by fitting something like a flexible gear-lever gaiter. Has anyone got experience or ideas about this?

I did have the idea to modify the sierra cowl with some filler to reduce the curvatures and them cover it in stick-on pretend carbonfibre film. Should look neat if I can get it to stretch and stick in the concave bits.
