To Cut The Chassis Or Not ?

Old zimmers had steel top spring cups and the later ones have ally ones I don’t know the difference in the springs but the later ones are about coilbound when static where as the earlier ones had much wider coils. BTW nether type are true coilovers but just shocks with a sleeve over to accept the spring
