I bought this ready installed so not my idea but works OK, there are probably many ways of mounting the toothed wheel and the sensor but this is what i have.

Mmmm! doubt if hitting the pick-up first will save your sump!

Take your point Jim, just remember the big bit is at the back on the sump so plenty of room and on the series 3 it will above the sleds. ( I hope)

This is one setup i've seen on the MJLJ site its on a pinto and on the other side to yours, but yours looks ok .

the main thing is to stop the sensor vibrating at high (or low) revs so the one in this picture had a support added to it.

My bracket suffers from a little vibration so i will be using some thicker ally plate and a couple of extra mounting points

And here is mine which is now in and running. Trigger wheel is mounted on the rear of the crank pulley which means that the fan belt does not interfear with the sensor.
