Oil Temp 153 C

My normal journey home in the Galaxy as the diesel is unwell and the hood as you all know is part built, after a spirited run water temp was at the higher end of the scale but still in the normal zone, oil temp at 117C and then it shot up to 153C.

I stopped, no indication of low water, no indication of low oil pressure but when i opened the oil cap, steam and smoke, oil level at bottom of dipstick, i added what i had and filled to max, water was zero and i added what i had and it ejected at the back of the engine in a huge wide steam curtain ( transvers V6) could be a head gasket on the right hand bank. And i have only just put a new auto box in.

I now have no car on the road and a family holiday in France in 4 weeks :(

I will know the damage tommorow but if i get away with a head gasket i think i will be lucky.

I have already emailed someone on ebay with a V6 with a tatty body but do i really want to take it apart and fit the engine to mine.

When is it time to cut my losses?????

Can anyone with experience of VR6 engines give me an honest opinion
