I bought my 2B ready-built and have never taken the plugs out, I think they could do with a change, what do people use?

Engine is Pinto 2L, Piper BP285 cam, standard head and twin 40's.

Thank you :)

NGK by preference Bosch are ok but defiantly not Champions I’ve had too many fail to use them again.

...this is exactly what I would say too...

Standard NGK AP6FS are fine with a standard head. (AP7FS are one grade colder/harder if you mod it much more).

Thanks - AP6FS it is then.

Hmm NGK's must have improved. Used to have no end of problems with them at high revs in higher gears, misfire would develop after about 2000 miles. Replacing the plugs, which would be clean, cured the misfire. eventually changed to Bosch and never had the problem again.

Sanspeed recommended the 7 plug to me for trackdays on a similar spec.

Hard to get hold of though (i found). I always used a 6.

And getting harder as the pinto must by now be the only engine left in any numbers to use 18mm plugs

Prepare for stupid question:

So what is actaully the difference. Why would you want to run cooler, harder etc??

Does it make any difference to the running temperature?
