Whats the best solution for the fuel tank breather pipe, when I purchased the car it was blocked up, but I think that this was causing fule supply/ return problems, maybe. So I have un-blocked it and now the car stinks of petrol.

Suggestions please

Regards Richard anderson.

Get a proper in-line tank breather valve. It will allow vapour out and air in, but seals off to liquid. Try BGC motorsport. Then mount it in a length of fuel pipe so that it's the right way up and is the higher than the filler neck. The other end of the pipe then goes down to the bottom of the chassis somewhere and that's that.

OK, mine is a mark 3, not a 2B, but the fuel tank beaths through the filler cap (you do have to have the right type of cap!) the jeep on the other hand, has a separate breather, which is a rubber / plastic tube that reaches half way up inside the roll over bar. so no smelly fumes.
