Engine Cat

Hi all at what age does an engine have to have a cat ie i have a red top in a 2000 corsa but the engine is younger

Cats are needed for cars with an effective date of later than 1st. Aug. 95 if using 'petrol + spark'. Its the effective date of the vehicle and once registered that seems to stick. Fitting an earlier or later engine doesn't seem to make any difference (unless the car is going to be re-registered as amateur constructed or rebuilt vehicle).
