Connecting A Laptop To A Tv

I have recently bought a flat screen LG tv, i dont have a dvd player at the moment as im saving up and eventually want to get a dvd/hard drive unit so theres not much point buying an old dvd player to make do with temporarily. So id like to connect it to my laptop that has a dvd player.

The laptop i have has a vga connection point and the tv has got many different connections to the rear.

I have got the following:

a spare scart socket

Component in socket

AV in 3

RGB IN (PCD/DTV)

RS-232C IN (CONTROLS & SERVICE)

What should i use to connect to the tv for the best picture?

wont this do it?

Scart cable

link didn't work for me. My sony laptop has a 3.5mm jack plug that is the tv out which is next to the mic and headphone socket. Does yours happen to have this? If so all you need is a 3.5mm jack to phono lead which is the same as you would connect an mp3 to an amplifier.

Most aux visual output ports are in yellow if that helps.

I have dowloaded loads of HD clips to play through the TV

I'm lucky enough to have a 15pin D-connector the same as a standard monitor on the rear of the TV. I simply add the TV as a second display. it works well.
