Interesting name...

Well its simple really...if there is a 'r' in the month and depending on who you talk to at which dvla office you get a different story

I think you get a Q if they don't accept what year your donor was if if you have more than 1 donor or no V5...

A Q plate is given to a vehicle that is made up from many unknown parts ie. one that does not have the major components from a single vehicle (engine, gearbox, back axle etc.)

An age related plate is given to a vehicle that has used the major components from a single donor with V5 for evidence.

A new registration plate is given to a vehicle that has all new parts fitted, or all new parts except for one that is reconditioned.

as long as 2 major components eg.engine and gearbox have been used from the same donor you wont get a Q plate.

you won't retain the donors reg but you will be given an age related one . <_<

you only get a brand new reg if the car is constructed from new parts eg.a"kit in a box" :D

i have read that once you have passed the SVA and regesterd your car you don't need an MOT for 3 years (same as a brand new car)
