Efi Distributor Information

Hi, just wondered if any one knew how important the metal sheild that covers the distributor cap was ?

 

it has an earth wire terminal on it - why ? is it something to do with static ?

 

I havent got mine fitted as I assume that the dizzy earths ok any way.

 

any ideas ?

Can't be too important, mine has managed without it for the last 8k miles.

 

Really don't know why its there perhaps an enlightened person will let both of us know.

Electrical shielding so it doesn't disturb the ECU. It should be earthed to the body of the dizzy to work as designed. The dizzy body itself earths through the engine block. Seldom see it on kits.
