Just a note to say thanks to the North West hoodies who called round today, even though i ended up making 16 cups of tea for us. <_< Cant think of a nicer way to spend a Tuesday afternoon in December than tyre kicking and watching Jim take photos of Pan Cake air filters. With a bit of luck in the very near future i hope to join you on similar runs .

Thanks again for the banter and encouragment :D

Phil

PS the valve timing thing got the better of me just come in it was 6 deg out

Bugger! the only photo that has come out, was the one of the 'pancake filter' for some silly reason, maybe the camera was too cold!

After leaving you, we went to Colin Ushers to see his part built 2B, then to a part build Cobra, complete with Chevvy power (V nice!), then onto 'Tango's' to show the lads how he's putting a Suzuki 1300cc engine (car) into a 2B. we managed to lose Geof & Mitch just after Colins, found them again at Tango's, but lost Colin (Mad Max) afterwards. Roll on getting the CB's operative!

Hi Greg

Thanks for the offer but have measured the available height and think i would need an element about 35 mm which would then only give me about 5 mm clearance. :boohoo: Plus could i put up with the ear ache from Jim for fitting a pancake filter :D . Colin said he thought he had a spare foam one so will hang on and see if he finds it. If not will have to put my hand deep into my pockets and try to find a cheaper option than Demon Thieves.

Tony local Dealer checked out which sender for escort clocks (Green) temp now reads normal thanks for the tip didnt know they where colour coded. :D

i have a pancake filter on a 1.6 pinto on the standard carb the filter is about 20-25mm thick and cost about £8.50 , its a triumph spitfire bolt on, for an SU carb i just chopped the plastic bit out of the back of the old frying pan to lift the filter up high enough to get some air flow in and jobs a goodun. its shinney too

Ah well Pete, someone has to keep the wheels of commerce turning round! :)

No the roll call was:-

Tony, booked a day of work to do an errand in the AM. :)

Mitch, working shifts, 4 on, so many off, and he was off. :)

Geoff Critch, semi retired. :)

Colin (mad Max), Fully retired. :D

Greg, Trying for retirement. ;)

& Me, Sick, :(

Irish Bob would have been with us, but was in the process of packing his son john off on a plane to the US of A.

Now should you find yourself with 'spare time' please feel free to join in. :p
