Exporting A Hoodie

Hi guys,

My first post after becoming a new hoodie owner. Two questions I am hoping to find answers for are the following:-

1) in the coming future I'll be moving to France for my job and obviously want to take my hoodie with me. But I have heard that the French are quite hard over on registering cars and all cars built after 2000 (I think) require a certificate of conformity. Now you can get these for factory built cars but does anyone know how I can go about this with a kit car?

2) My hood has full wet weather gear but I am after a tonneau cover. I see from kit parts direct that they do a tonneau for the zero. Will this fit? If not where can I get one as I've trawled all the sites related to the hoodie but can't seem to find a specialist one.

Any comments on these two issues welcome (esp. the first).

Thanks

Guy

I would speak to richard at gbs rather than going through via kitparts direct.

Hi Guy

Hve a look at this web site for your tonneau.

Some things are a bit expensive but all seems good quality.

No idea about registering your car in France though sorry.

Thanks for the help. The bits on the website you identify Ian look just the job.

Still struggling over the French registration - I don't want to keep driving it back each year for an MOT but it may be the only option.

Hi

There are a number of threads on the topic of exports

As far as I am aware 1/1/09 was the crunch day..

From that date no car registered in an one EU country can remain legally in any other for > 6 months..

Of course you can have it in country longer but in the event of an accident you may find you have no legal protection and no insurance!!

I originally intended to export mine to Spain but they have stopped matriculating i.e re re-registering non Spanish conformed cars so no go on getting hoodie into country legally.

Did a quick look and it looks like France has adopted a similar stance.

Sorry to be the Bearer of back news..

We sold a kit car to an English couple living in France last year, they hope toregister it as a historic vehicle as fortunately it had been registered in the 70s which I realise may not be of great help in this case, it had loads of history including the original buil dup inspection sheet and receiptd s fron the factory.

Before that another bloke was going to buy it but said he couldn't register it as it was a Q plate, difficult to know where exactly their laws stand

Good luck

Mike
