Hi My son David who has just turned 20, has just insured a Dutton 1600 Pinto with Footman James 1/3 party f&t for £370 in his own name 1500 miles.

Not to bad.

Always worth asking for a price with a female aged between 25 and 65 or 70 (Mum/Wife/Girlfriend/Sister/Auntie?)on as a named driver (even if they are very unlikely to drive)it tends to reduce the price a bit - its a bit odd, but that is insurance companies for you. My wife is always on all my insurance, even been on limited mileage old car policies (bet no one can work out what make!)and hell would probably freeze over before she would consider driving some of the cars I've had!
