Rust On Cam Lobes

if it's rust then there can't be any oil getting up there otherwise there would be a film of oil stopping it rusting after you last ran the engine, unplug the coil and spin the engine over on the key to see if any oil come up to the cams,if you get covered in oil at least you know it's not due to lack of the black stuff

I personaly would not even spin that engine over if you do its going to put a massive amount of crap into the lube system and the result will be more expensive than pulling the cams ,may be plugs out and turn by hand ,clean the affected lobes to check damage ,re lube with Wynns or STP ,crank it over to get oil press ,fire it up run til properly warm ,cam cover off check condition while keeping fingers cross
