Replacement Screen

I have to replace my windscreen, It shattered into a thousand pieces, although this is just a guess as to how many pieces.

Would Autowindscreens come out and fit me a new one?

Should I claim off my insurance?

Having swept up all the little bits of glass, wear gloves when doing this, I didn't to save time. The cuts are quite sore now!

I have removed the pillars and taken the frame apart leaving the bottom runner still attached to the bonnet.

Next, send the wife on Monday to RH to get a replacement glass.

Then should should I take the bottom runner off the bonnet and assemble it "flat" or put it back together in-situ?.

So many questions.

I bought the car built, so have no idea as to the correct way of rebuilding it!

I did a search but that didn't help.

No, they just won't have them.

you could enquire, but there'll be an excess anyway. you'd need to get an estimate from a kitcar 'builder/ repairer' such as RS Jigtec for what they'd charge to do the job.

this is probably the one that you'll have to go for, but ring RHSC up first.

They are normally build up as an assembly, there should be a screw through either end of the bottom runner, into the 'top' channel (at the side, obviously)

Whilst you've got it out, you may need new rubber seals, chack them. Also check the screws for the press-studs, make sure that they won't touch your new glass.

Thanks Jim.

Only joking about Autowindscreens.

But thanks again for the advice.

I could always leave it off altogether, must be worth 15-20mph, similar areodynamics to my Land Rover. B)

I realise I may be a bit late but I have a spare screen in the garage which you are welcome to have > I shall be going to Stoneleigh so you could collect it there.

Thanks very much for the offer.

I bought a screen from RHSC last weekend £25. Since then I have had a laminated one cut by a local glass merchant £12 inc VAT.

So I too have a spare screen!

Thanks again.

John
