ZX9R - I used them on my 1.8 Pinto and now on 2L Zetec. This is what Jazzym said in a post on this topic:

Haha here we go again, the old bike carb versus weber debate lol.

Personally I have ZX9R carbs (£30 off ebay), sat on a Bogg Brothers alloy manifold with Pipercross sausage filter and after having twin 40's I would never go back to them from the bike carbs. Throttle response is much smoother and much more instant than with the 40's and fuel economy still seems pretty good (after Barkstone track day).

All in I think my setup ended up costing me around £350 - £400 for the carbs, manifold, stripping, cleaning and re-jetting and the filter.

Now all the Weber fans are gonna start shouting lol.

Rgds,

Jason

p.s. If you do go down the bike carbs route, the trick to getting them to work right is getting an expert to jet them and set them up correctly on a rolling road. I use Russ at Torque tune as do many others on here.

GSXR 750 carbs, spaced on a straight manifold.

As a rule of thumb matching the inlet port diameter is good.

Weber 40's have a maximum Venturi of 33mm and are restrictive on anything more than a standard Pinto

Weber 45's venturi maximum is 38mm

Bike carbs have variable Venturi

Kawasaki Z6 go very well, supposed to be the best for pick up through the gears.

I have a 2.1 Fr33 cam with Megajolt, made 145 at back wheels at Bogg Bros.

I used the GBS manifold, works OK.

Good Luck

Steve
