Hi All,

I have the chance of a Transit Pinto FOC, so I thought it would be a good little project to rebuild.

Question is, does it differ in a fundemental way fromt he Pinto in the car?

My thoughts exactly!

Reading further into the forum, it does appear that this question has been asked before, so apologies for duplication.

It seems that the only difference is the pistons being shorter to provide lower compression, denoted by "LC" as opposed to "HC" on the pistons themselves.

My plan, really would be to strip, bore out to 2.1 and fit new pistons any way, so that should get round that.

Anyone else done a similar build?? Some people reccomend putting a Turbo / Blower on due to the existing low compression.

Any ideas / suggestions gratefully received

Paul

I knew I hadn't dreamt it!

My opinion (others may argue) would be to not bother boring it to 2.1 (94mm) because head gaskets (especially if you're turboing) become expensive in comparison to standard 2.0.........(50 quid for a adjusa which arn't that good or £100+ for a cometic multi layer steel). It may not seem a great deal for a one time buy..........but if you think you've gotta buy a new gasket each time the head comes off (which in my case has been quite a lot and I wished I hadn't gone 2.1!!!!)

Stick a turbo on it and a good cam shaft and great times ahead!!!!!!!!!
