  1. There’s was a threaded take off on the retro Ford rail that I used
  2. So I’ve basically I connected the turbo cooling with a smallish (6 or 8mm, can’t remember exactly) bore hose from the cylinder head to turbo then from turbo to bottom of rad. The water jacket around the turbo core helps keeps the oil temps down and acts as a thermal barrier between the hot exhaust turbine and cold air turbine. Short term running without water cooling isn’t going to cause any issues but long term, wouldn’t fancy it myself….especially on an engine kicking out nearly 280bhp….also running without inevitably creates higher air intake temps. Shouldn’t cause any issues to a correctly set up cooling system either - well at least it’s been fine on the two zetec turbo’s I’ve built to date.
  3. Always happy to help a RHOCaR member! In fact, the membership sec’s car has been in my workshop over 12months now
  4. Yeah that’s the correct size bearing so that’s some good news. if you have means of transporting your car and as you’re a RHOCaR member, I’m more than happy do donate a day or so at my workshop with you there if you get stuck with this one. The only time I’ve encountered really hot supercharger pulley (so hot you can’t touch them) is because the charger itself is failing / has failed.....for me, it was the pulley bearing that collapsed and this lead to further problems inside the charger casing / rotors.
  5. Have you got the original (new) bearing in the Supercharger’s pulley or are you using something different to original spec? I’ve had no end of problems in that area (when drifting away from original spec bearing) and it gets red-hot and melts the belt and can knacker the charger. On some of my older build threads, you can see I use a different bearing to the original spec one (two thin bearings instead of one wide bearing) - these are no good and I had to ditch them and revert to the original style of bearing.
  6. Ain’t no replacement for displacement!! I suppose those huge V8 supercharger scoops with the 3 butterflies you see on drag strips are also a kind of pre-charger TB?? In essence, they both open at the same rate, although the precharger tb doesn’t close fully and needs to be a lot bigger then and post charger tb.
  7. Hey up Richy! Hope you’re well and keeping busy! just to answer your dual tb query....it massively smooths out the power / torque curve. somewhere in the mountains of photos, I’ve got a comparison graph someone did illustrating the difference....was going to do a comparison myself one day but never got round to it.
  8. Thanks richy! How’s the v8? Im thinking of putting a few photos up of the Turbo installation I’m doing for Dean Rudkin as it maybe of interest to some members .....makes a change from doing Supercharger’s at least!!
  9. Hi folks, how you all been? I know it's been a while but I've been none stop and I was just wondering how we go about uploading photos nowadays given photobucket royally screwed everything up a few years back and I've been away from the forum since it's upgrade.
  10. I have a vinyl plate on the nose. Been like it for years and numerous mots and police pass by’s no problem but I’m not kidding myself as I know it’s definitely not legal and would just plead dumb to it at the roadside and hope for a wrist slap
  11. assuming you've changed your adhesive vinyl number plate on the stylus.....which is technically as illegal as an undersized number plate
  12. It's a genuine and honest mistake made by Alan - we're all only human after all! Alan has supported the club a great deal over the years and acted quickly as soon as this was brought to light. Whilst I appreciate all this GDPR thing going off at the minute, please let us not blow this out of all proportion and loose a fantastic area sec!!
  13. I pay £95 for half a ton - so that works out at 19p per kg, so it sounds like Bob's being ripped off
  14. Im not even going to pretend otherwise.....Im extremely green-eyed jealous!!! Shes stunning Bob!!! Ive been toying with the idea of selling up the cars and buying a 1/3 size traction engine to play around with.
  15. Ive been known to make a tie bar bracket or 2....along with a few other bits and bobs If I can help, drop me a pm
  16. Just a thought; It maybe worth asking the hog-roast company to set-up at the back of the club stand this year instead of in the camping area. In previous years, the old camping area (plot 64) has been pretty much RHOCaR exclusive so plenty of space and easy to see that only members are getting pig-cobs. Given this year you'll be camping in the same area as everyone else at the show, space will probable be limited (especially if the weather is good) as well as every man and there dog trying to get a free pig-cob.
  17. I’ve got to get my gearbox oil leak fixed the the v8 first mate - not surprising trey are dead strict about oil drips - drop oil on the track and it shuts the whole thing down for at least an hour! Might take the vx tho if I can ever get it through the mot!
  18. We do Santa pod loads throughout the year so will probably be up for any of those dates.
  19. And unless Keith has cancelled, I'm sure the Ukrainian centre still has us booked in for this September.
  20. I am only 1 voice on the committee and as you all know I will be stepping down very soon because this is one of the decisions I've strongly disagreed with - and yes I'm probably spitting my dummy out over it but its because a lot of hard work and personal favours was put in to get it to where it is, only for it to be tossed aside because the committee basically can't be ar5ed and are using the 'only dates available' as a convenient excuse not to bother with it this year (September date was offered almost straight away after last years event and June was offered not long after, so these dates have been on the table for ages). I accept that I do hold a bias view on the EOSB given that the venue for the first few years was Hollowell (which I had close ties with) and then in last couple of years it has been held at the Ukrainian Centre (again, I have close ties with the venue). Both these venues I've managed to get the club and vastly reduced costs compared to other venues. My take on the situation is that the newer members on the committee would rather stick up some RHOCaR banners and write some cheques for other people's events instead of rolling there sleeves up and organising something (EOSB) themselves.
  21. Thanks Dan - I thought about dropping you a line as I remember seeing you now have a gas analyser.....however discovering the lack of a cat made the emissions problem pretty obvious!
  22. The VX220 failed mot yesterday on emissions.....and its hardly surprising because once I got underneath to have a look at the after-market exhaust, there is no bl00dy cat installed. The car is an 03 plate with I think means its tested to Euro3. Ive bought a 200cell cat with is e-marked and supposedly Euro4 standard. But Im a little bit worried because Ive read some bits on the web where people struggle to get 200cell cats through the mot. Now it maybe one of those instances where the more you read, the more conflicting info you get.....so I thought Id reach out to the trusted RHOCaR crew to see if any of you guys have had experiences with 200cell cats, any problems etc..... 2 foot notes - the vx has a really short exhaust system and the cat is immediately after the primaries so it should get plenty warm enough.... Also from looking into this, it looks like most cats you can by for kitcars are 200cell.....gbs sell theres and it is 200 cell and they say it Iva compliant
  23. If you mount to the suspension uprights the arches don’t turn with the wheels. The brackets can be adjusted to fit to the hubs and then the arches will turn with the wheels.
  24. Hit a small milestone today - she’s now on wheels!!
