Steering Rack

Now got my engine running and had a low speed go around with some mechanic friends at a classic race garage. They seemed to think the rack had too many turns lock to lock for the type of car it is and the possible use on a track. I have the standard GBS rack and was told it was a quick rack, but it seems a lot of effort to turn. I do have the smaller Moutney wheel, think it is the 11" one.

Any thoughts?

The mountny steering wheel is a tad small and I intend to get a bigger one.

You will get used to moving the car whilst turning instead of trying to turn while stationary.

Adding a quick rack will increase the effort at low speed but once moving its better.

I'm currently fitting a Rally Design quick rack to the Sierra casing for my S3a but will need a larger steering wheel.

I did think of fitting Corsa electric power steering but that's a mission and only needed for parking/ low speed manovering.

If you have not properly setup the front suspension geometry doing this may help
