This was posted last week, but Terry Barry (who responded so quickly) had the Sierra speedo whereas I had the Robin Hood variety - so once again .........

...... can anyone help me please with a plug wiring diagram showing what colour wire goes into which number socket for a centre mounted speedo/tacho/fuel/temp gauge unit?

I seem to have lost the bit of paper that shows what wire goes in what number slot.

Does anyone else have this and if so can you fax, email or send me a copy please.

Regards

john,

the problem is that Uncle Henry made so many different speedo combinations.

you'll also find that the clocks that you've got from RHSC are more than likely out of an Escort.

You're better off tracing the tracks on the back of the clocks to find out what each one does.

You will have 1 pin that looks common to nearly everything (especially the illumination) , this is the constant +ive power feed.

There is another one which will come clear as you match each pin up, this is the switched power to the gauges & warning lights that only come on with the ignition.

There will be one that goes directly to earth (or -ive wire) this is for the clock illumination.

All the others trace then to which gauge/bulb they go to then that is where you connect the wire from whatever sender. ie. Temp gauge, connect the wire from the temp sender.

Take you time, you can do it.

Many thanks for that.

I removed the plug and found that not all the holes had pins in them and the only one that had come away was the tacho in number 10 slot.

The rest I managed to trace ok.....but patience and hard thinking did the trick ... with encouragement...thanks for the help.

Now I move on to the wipers and so far today, after a good 4 hours I managed to blow 3 fuses and with the help of a tester identified what two of the wires were.

Building the car was easy compared to the wiring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So tonight I'll be studying the Sierra circuit diagrams, which look like a foreign language. If I get stuck I'll have to call in a sparky or put up another post.

Thanks for your help.

It's amazing what's on this site once you start to look.

I also found a helpful wiring diagram in the build tips section which really helped.

Back to the garage then ..........

Regards

Just to finish this one off, I managed to sort things out and here is the final result.

It turns out that I had an early loom from Autosparks in Sandiacre which RH discontinued in 2000/2001 - so the attached may not be for eveyone.
