HI,

I've sent off for my sva but have just had a thought about something that may be a problem.

My donor car was a '93 Kreg, and the engine i wanted to use was an '89 cosworth engine.

I registered the engine as if i'd put it in the donor (which obviously i did).

Does the '89 engine now count as part of the '93 car?

On the sva form i've put the engine year of manufacture as '89 and am pretty confident it should pass the emmisions for that year. I do however want to register as a '93 k reg and am not sure if the engine fitted will pass the '93 emmision test as i'm no sure if the donor car had a cat or not as i just threw away all the engine/gearbox/exhaust etc. My kit definately hasn't got a cat.

I thought you could keep the donor reg if all except 1 component was either from that year or brand new. Is this right?

Does anyone know anything that could put my mind at rest?

Paul

If you can prove year of manufacture of the engine, then they should test it to that year. Also cats don't come into kitcars unless you're using a donor car later than 1994/5 (not exactly sure, but 93 is OK) As you've fitted that cossy engine into your donor car, then you should also get an age related plate.
