Be interested in how you do mount your exhaust when you do? Do you have a link to an example of the flexi pipe, never seen one!

 

What were the symptoms of your dead cat / silencer?

I will be checking with Mick first, but something like Item 251203110543 on E-Bay looks OK.

 

The symptoms were a gradually increasing rattle from the exhaust pipe that was obviously internal. I had hoped it was just the silencer losing it's baffles, but when the mechanic inspected it he said the cat internals were disintegrating as well.

I had one on a previous car and it was very good.

Tractor just fitted one and he thinks it's great.

Beware quality of inner parts coils. Insist on stainless.

Also the stainless braiding. A poor one will discolour to very dull very quickly. Not easy to polish out.

Do not buy the convoluted type. These spoil the smooth flow of gasses,costing lots of bhp.
