Free Road Tax - Not A Scam

I kept the road tax on the hood into October, but never got out in the car, so on 29th October, I sorned the car. Tax was valid until end March, so expected to get a full 5 months rebate.

 

On completion of Sorn, computer said "Sorn date is 1st October".

When rebate came, I received a full 6 months, not the 5 months I was expecting.

 

So......

 

I could therefore tax the car today, and then sorn it on the 29th November, and receive a full refund.

 

I'll let you know how i get on.

yes I did the same, just got refund cheque today.

I was driving the car on 31st oct and it was sorned at 7pm on 31st,

but dvla online automatically sorned from 1st oct.

wonder what would happen if I was photo`ed speeding and they checked records and shows up as sorned

would I be done for driving without tax???

I did exactly the same with the same result on being sorn from the 1st of october the refund cheque came friday but was only for £95.83 this the refund on one months used out of six months tax

Took mine for it's last spin for this year, some of the South Wales mountain roads are a bit greasy , just declared it sorn and the date on the webpage for the sorn to start is set automatically for the first of November, though they would of sorted that out by now, glad they haven't though.

Sorn'd mine on 29th nov, dvla registered this as the 1st nov so I was hoping for 3 months refund. Unfortunately I only got 2, December and January.

I only got 2 months as well, didn't get November, looks like they have sorted it.
