Alternator Troubles!

Well I had fun and games today. I put Rita to bed last night as usual all was well. Went to start her today....absolutely dead...nothing. Thought it was the battery so I jumped her and went to go get a battery...she died in less than a minute down the road. Walked back and got my other car and jumped her again, went to turn her off and she kept running ( even with the key out) which was weird, so I assumed electrical problem and called my mechanic father in law and he said it's alternator.... £50 for a new one. The joys of kit cars.

£50 is very good for a decent alternator.

That's inclusive of vat too. My father in law has his own garage. It's coming from Europarts.

Had similar problem before on my tin top,

 

Battery keep going flat then running when key removed.. turned out to be starter motor bendix jammed so starter motor was running all time - pulling power from battery then it kept running when key was taken out, turning the engine over as though it was still running.
