I note that it has independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes.

Got to be better than the front beam axle, single transverse leaf spring and cable operated brakes of the original 1934 Seven

What's the 'Ten Year Test"

Guy,

It's what is now called the MOT

The test was introduced in 1960 and all cars over ten years old had to be tested for brakes, lights and steering. The age of cars covered was gradually reduced until 1967 when all cars over three years old were required to be tested.

The original test really took some old wrecks off the road - prior to that you could be prosecuted for driving a vehicle "in unroadworthy condition" by the police.

History lesson completed :D :D

the 70 mph limit slowing your Ruby!

Hi Peter,

Wasn't it Barbara Castle that introduced the 70 limit ( and later seat belts and the breathalyser )

Very little slowed my Ruby - especially the centre pedal
