Pinto Sump

Does anyone know if the steel sump is the same on 1.6 models as the 2.0. I need to get a spare to chop it and want to increase my chance of finding one at the scrappy. Thanks.

I'm sure that the bottom of the crankcase of the various Pinto engines is the same.

Thus almost all pressed steel sumps are interchangable.

However some Pinto pressed steel sumps are shallower than others - but I'm not too sure if there is any rhyme or reason to which is which.

they are all the same fitting wise, but there are at least 3 different depths

dont forget to take the oil pick up pipe too

Thanks for the info. I have attempted to shorten my sump, and I just cannot stop it from leaking water. I am going to get another and get someone else to weld it! I had thought about brazing the inside, but someone has offered to get it welded for me.

The shorter ones came from a Capri. All are interchangeable.
