:gdit:

I have been building a 2b for the last 2 years and to say the least I will not be doing this again. My latest problem is that I have a 1800 pinto and I have about 1 inch of clearance from the sump to the ground . In fact with my daughter and I sitting in the car we can't even get in the gararge!!. ( slight lip) So I need a modified sump where can I get one ? how much will it cost ? I live in bedfordshire . Also can I fit it without taking the enginer out.

my other problem is that I purchased the nice shiny alloy wheels from RH and I have had the car sitting on the old wheels and guess what when I come to fit the new wheels i find that they will not fit under the wheel arches buy about 1" may be slightly more . When I purchased this kit RH never said that they would not fit under the standard arches how do I get round this.

I am losing the will to live with this kit

thanks for any help

Have a look around some of the builders websites (Including ours) you will find all the problems you have come across, have been sorted by most of us its not unusual.

The sump can be lifted out without removing the engine (On our website)

The Arrays do fit under the wheel arches and it can be easily sorted (On our website)

And any other problems can also be sorted out by getting yourself over to Newark this weekend for the Kit Car show and meeting up with lots of other "Hoodies"

Also Joining the club Will pay for itself in insurance alone

Good luck

Hi

Thanks for the encouragement I have not had the tyres fitted at the present time. I just put the wheels on and used a vertical piece of wood 4"2" and then looked down from above.

I will have a look at the web sites and let you know.

Regards

We all uderstand where you're coming from, it's just a shame that you only found this site so late into your build. All the problems that you've had (& haven't yet got to) have been tackled numberous times by previous builders, there's nothing new. so come and have a look on here daily (click "view new posts" at the top so that you see only the latest stuff.

also either go to the main rhocar site and look at other members websites from there, or when you see someone with a "WWW" box on the bottom of their posts, click on that, and it will take you to their website.

Wheel situation, take it for SVA with the sierra wheels on, then you can play about with the wings afterwards. In my opinion, fit 195 tyres, not 205 to your alloys.

The sump, unless you're excellent at welding, then the best thing to do is cut & prepare everything, then get a specialist welder to weld it.

The car being so low, you probably need to screw up the adjustment on the coil-over shocks, or insert the extra spring if it's a slidding pillar model.

Come along to the Newark show and check out the cars & members there.

Paul, first welcome to the madhouse. Do as Jim says get the car SVA'd with the ford wheels fitted I did and in fact it wasn’t till several months later that I fitted the alleys and found that I had to modify the front wing brackets because of the extra inch of offset.

As Terry has already said there is a good group not too far from you that meet at the George IV pub in Baldock on the first Sunday of the month at about 11.30. There is usually about 12 cars plus several builders and you will be made very welcome if you come along.

Stick with it at the end you will have a car that you will be very proud of as it will be a one off as are all Robin Hoods. Also they are fantastic fun to drive and the club is second to none.
