I,m in the process of gathering all the bits together for my conversion to vaxhall power. As i understand it i use the vauxhall pressure plate and the ford friction plate. Now, as the standard ford plate is smaller than the vauxhall i had a chat with my local motor factors and we found that the mondeo 1.8 td clutch is the same size,228mm and23 spline. I sent this info to sbd motorsports but they said i can't use it and should use one of their own plates (£108). Is this correct or are they just after my money.

They're after your money. I have the standard Sierra plate in, as I only found out about the correct size plate too late. But be aware, most motor factors nowadays only want to sell you a 3 piece clutch, ie. all the bits, be awkward, go somewhere else until you find someone who will get just the friction plate for you.

Thanks for that Jim, i thought thats what you said when i spoke to you at Newark. The guy at my local factors in Shipley is really helpful and we spent about half an hour looking through his books and found a few clutches of the right size, early transit,Galaxy.couger,mondeo,etc. he can do the whole mondeo kit for £45 which i think is quite reasonable.
