  1. went to chadderton last thursday for sva. very nice gent called dave did the honours.

failed on 8 few minor things..

mainly sharp edges.. didnt like the side indicaters as supplied by robin hood

also the rear fog light switch, gent stated they dont like them as they are to sharp.

also it was so hot the washer pipe flopped off dispite the circlip.

and the petrol cap as suppiled by r.h came under scutiny, didnt like that one bit, even though its well within the rubber washer asked for a futher one to be placed around the exteriour of it.

and one or to other bits

.all items sorted apart from the fog light switch, looking at it i have two alternatives, either move it as suggested well behind the steering wheel (ie, in straight in front of driver) so its exempt or change it for another one. has anyone any ideas re a new switch?, would be easier than another hole in the dash.

anyway happy with the day apart from the niggly bits

  2. have got a date through for sva next week in chadderton, manchester.

and am wondering about towing the hood there, has anyone used a rigid tow on a hood before, if so where have connected to on the car.

    thanks

  3. just to add another jobsworth award..

i booked and took the car in for a mot today because whilst speaking to gent from oldham sva.. he said you now require an mot before the sva. easy so far.

dval said no problem, the garage can do mot on the computer with chassis nos only... just show reg unknown. easy?

got to the garage, chap there in a panic, he has been told by dvla that you require a mot for sva, but you require a reg for mot?????? making sense!

when i rang back was told as initially chassis nos will suffice on mot

do they actually talk in some of these gov offices. i know 2 jags doesnt!

  4. i seem to remeber seeing a link some time ago re sending an e mail to ford regarding proof of engine age. i cant find it at all.i can never get search engines to do what they should.... :gdit: does anybody have the email address at all please?

  5. sorry about this, but heres another fuel gauge related question.

i can get mine to read full, when full, empty when empty(hopefully not before) but when you turn the ignition off the needle doesnt move, just stays put on the dial. have i done something wrong. or shall i just ignore it as it shows the level correctly.

  6. pete,

sorry about delay in responding but with xmas and all that jazz.

which is the ...W.. terminal plse.. have looked at my alternmater today, have three spade connections, one large and two small...

and guess what,. it aint in the haynes :gdit:

  7. after a bit of help plse.

have now got a webber 2v carb and inlet manifold for 2ltre pinto.

however, have a couplse of questions.

hole 1 in the pikkie...what normally goes from this please?

hole 2 is for the threaded water pipe, anyone know where i could get one plse,,, have tried local ford dealers and scrappies to no avail.

  8. managed to sort it.... terminal 2 on the rear of the cluster on mine is earth and not temp gauge as per the wiring diagram, that is term 7!!!

anyway, fuel gauge now reads the correct amount, only thing is it doesnt go to zero when ignition turned off...will settle for knowing when its empty.

  9. hope someone can help with this one.

    having problems with wiring.

ignition on, then fuel gauge reads normally.

ignition off... fuel gauge stays at level it was when ignition turned off.

turn lights on and fuel gauge goes straight to the top.

if ignition and lights are on it stays at full, turn lights off and it drops to normal reading.... if igntion and lights turned off at same time, gauge shows full!

have disconnected the wire for the gauge at rear of cluster and it still shows full when lights turned on.

have also noticed that revs drop momentairily on tach when lights turned on ...but dont drop in actual fact

have checked all wiring and cant see any apparent cross wiring...everything works a ok

any ideas would be welcome... mind you this is cheaper than filling tank with gas!! :gdit: :gdit:

  10. have got to the wiper stage... as mini wipers are like rocking horse doings around here and its rainy i have had a go at the sierra wipers ' a la dick'

    get movement alright,

windscreen in front of driver will be lovely and clear... passenger wont be able to see a thing, the nearside wiper stops vertical....if i take the bend out so the wiper doesnt sit fluch with bottom of screen it goes just past vertical.

have had the thing in and out playing with different length rods....have made the motor swing arm 10 mm longer as per past topic to no avail.

    any ideas would be welcome....

should i wait for mini one or has anyone been here done this and can help.

    :gdit: :boohoo:
