  1. There is the option of laid up cover, but as mentioned above that sometimes premiums for these cars are so low it's worth keeping them insured on the road all year (you just reflect the actual usage in your mileage) - it does give you that freedom of jumping in without having to up your insurance back to road use if the sun makes a wintery appearance!

Either or, we can take a look for you if you'd like and RhoCar are still a recognised club of ours for club member benefits :)

Last year when i insured the hood it was £206, i was 22. This year they say 'new rules regarding kit cars' mean i cant find insurance for less than £500, the companies i rang all say it will come down when i reach 25...

So atm the car is stopping off the road, and im having to consider selling it :( as 500quid is far too much money...

It's more down to experience, most of our insurers require at least 12 months experience for a specialist policy or driving something of a similar power etc. With kit cars many insurers have a minimum age, but with the right experience under 25 year old's can be referred (at worst they'll say no!)

So if we haven't quoted yet you can give us a call on 01635 874646 and speak to our specialist team in Thatcham and we can see if there's anything we can do?

  3. Hello,

    Just spotted this thread!
We do build-up insurance which can be transferred to full-road risk after IVA pass.

Also - whether you are contacting us through Cherished Vehicle or A-Plan it's important you come through to Thatcham as we have more schemes available with insurers. Cherished Vehicle Thatcham 03332076597 and A-Plan Thatcham 01635874646

It's the same office we are just dual branded as A-Plan own Cherished Vehicle Insurance Services.

  4. Hi DanE,

We offer standalone track day cover which can vary in price based on the track, vehicle value etc. or a bulk add-on for your annual insurance which often works out cheaper if you're planning on doing more 2 or more track days in the year. If you have any questions you can call us on 01635 874646 :)

    Thanks!

    Carlie

  5. That time of year again, except this year is a bit of problem. I already had a no fault accident from 2014 and points from 2013, made no real differance to my premiums. 2016 was a bad year I had a fault claim and was hit by an uninsured moron, due to my dash cam i was proved not at fault and also it stuffed the moron who hit us ( he didn't stop) so this year's insurance has been a pig!!!

Mx5 was 1st problem most of the company's offering classic or cherished wouldn't insure me on it, A plan quoted £1800 !! Went with a company called rcib they were cheapest at a shade under £300 but I wish I hadn't what a useless bunch of ass holes !! Avoid at all cost. Yesterday I needed to insure the kit for dyno day, the stylus has always been insured with a plan so rang them, no can do for the aforementioned mx5 issues, rang flux,no answer after a 1min so hung up, then tried together. rang them back in January and got a got quote of £170 with all of the above taken into account, rang them answered in under 1min went through the quote again changed some details ie value, agreed value supercharger 5000miles etc £200 all in they were a pleasure to deal with even waved credit card charge. Top marks together insurance...

Apologies we couldn't help with this one, sometimes adverse history can cause issues for us.

    Clare
