  1. How on earth do you get the circlip on through that tight hole mate? Can the box be removed without removing the floor?
  2. Well ive aquired some saab oil coil on plugs. Looking forward to setting them up. Should look mint!! Better than a bulky coil pack.

  4. Hi, has anyone got any advice with regards to which coil on plug set i could use with the xe? Also could these be used with a wasted spark setup (ford edis) Ive found some vxr ones on ebay which arnt cheap. Also found cbr600 ones which are cheap CBR600 coil / plug caps CBR 600 f2 sport Breaking 2002 on eBay (end time 03-Feb-11 18:56:39 GMT) Any reason why they shouldnt work? Its in a 2b and want to ditch the coil pack and tidy the bay. Regards Gareth
  5. Cheers for the replies, much appreciated. The split bonnets look much better i think. Im going for the same design as timbo's i think. Hopefully be able to get on it next week some time. :-) More pictures would always be appreciated.

  7. cheers for the pics lads much appreciated. Timbo, what did you use to edge the bonnet, scuttle and cone? I have a stainless bonnet at the moment but i am planning to paint it all so dont want rivets on show really. How did you secure the lip on the scuttle? IDEAS? Also where could i get say a 1500mm x 50mm strip of stainless? Im planning on doing a how2 when i do it so will be sure to mention names . Cheers Gareth
  8. thats grat bud.. I dont suppose you have any of the bonnet fitted do you? Im still concearned about how you keep the shape of the middle section. Have you re-enforced this too? Gareth

  10. Hi people, i have decided to change the bonnet on my 2b. I currently have a "croc" bonnet which i just dont like. What i would like to do is fix the scuttle and the nose cone which i think is easy enough. What i am worried about is when i cut it into three, the middle part will become flexible i imagine. What have you guys done to strengthen it so it keeps its shape? I have thought about fibre glassing it but i think it will foul the XE :-) . I have done a search but couldnt find a difinitive answer.   11. Hello matey cheers. So it's a circlip? Tried cutting a hole but where the clip is, it's bang on a structural part of the frame. Gonna be a right pain me thinks.
  12. Hi, how do i go about removing the cable from the box? I cant really get at from below as the builder has plated the underside of the car. Is it going to be a case of removing the box completely? Cheers Gareth
  13. HI right swapped cylinders round, feels much nicer now. What i am finding tho is that under hard breaking the front near side is locking up. Any ideas? Gareth
  14. Hi once again thanks for the info's.. I used a b garage in deeside. They are well known around our way. As said the car pulls great in all gears, just seemed to run out of gear in 5th my engine wanted to keep Goin lol. Really worried about my box now as the previous owner has boxed it in and will be a knightnare to get at.
  15. HI there. How much was your diff bob? Yeah i agree it does look like it says second gear. What are the figures likely to be in 4th then? Cant wait to get the speedo working now. HOw do the different sie diffs make a difference? sorry to be ignorant but im really not up on the gearing side of things. Gareth
  16. Hi bob I'm not sure what gear to be honest. I know nothing about tuning. He did say that he was very shorted with the figures and asks if it was just a standard lump. It goes nuts at 4k which made him think it may have a cam? I'm hoping to get her out again the weekend. I've just bought a pulse converter so I can wore my digi dash up and calbrate it proper. So my box should be fine then?

  18. N/A mate goes like a trooper. Ill know more once ive sorted the speedo. Unless im stuck in 3rd lol... Really does shift in the 1st 3 gears tho. How would i know what diff i had matey? Here's my dyno graph. Gareth
  19. hey all thanks for the replies, i can rev easily in 4th to 6.5k 5th was aabout the same. Ill have to get my speedo working and see how fast im goin. It didnt seem that fast to be honest. The e is 168 at the wheels and 370 lb ft Ill have to make sure the rev counter is reading correct.
  20. Hi all finally got round to taking her out for a spin. I have a 2b with a e reg sierra type 9 coupled with a 168bhp at the wheels vauxhall xe engine. God she pulls like a train through 1st 2nd 3rd and a chunk of 4th. The thing is she seems to run out of puff in 5th with my lump at approx 4-5k ( i think). Basically doesnt seem to pull amymore. My speedo isnt working yet and im now not sure if my rev counter is correct (however i feel it is). What i would like to know is what is the top speed likely to be and is there anything i can do to lengthen 5th gear? I get the feeling im doing about 65-70 but im not sure.   25. HI car went in for MOT toaday a past with flying colours. (brake light bulb req) What he did say tho was that the brake test past no worries but that the fronts arnt as strong as the could be (pressure wise?) and that the rear gave better readings. Any ideas? Im using .75 master front and .7 rear. Thanks GAreth
